Operations

Kirkland Lake Gold’s current operations are focused on increasing its yearly production rates to 200,000 ounces per year which will reduce unit operating costs. In January 2009, the Company commenced a 2-phase, 36-month development and mine refurbishment program to increase production in two eighteen month phases the highlight of which includes an increase in the hoisting capacity from 1,000 tons per day to 3,600 tons per day:

• Phase I, to be completed by July 2010, will double production to 600 - 700 tons of ore per day, containing roughly 90,000 - 100,000 ounces of gold per year.
• Phase II, is expected to complete in early 2012 and will double production again to 1,200 to 1,400 tons of ore per day, containing roughly 180,000 to 200,000 ounces of gold per year.
